How to order

Specific floor types require specific underfloor heating solutions, if you can't find your floor type specification here please contact us for technical assistance.

Tiled floor finish on to concrete / screeded base. All underfloor heating systems require adequate insulation beneath the screed or directly beneath the heating cables. Assuming that adequate insulation is fitted below the screed our under tile cables or under tile mats can be installed directly on top of the screed, after priming, and then tiled or latexed over. If you are unsure of existing insulative properties it will be necessary to fit an insulated tile backing board prior to installation of the heating system. Minimum required insulation thickness is 10mm, we recommend Marmox® boards for this purpose.  With adequate insulation under tile heating cables and mats designed to 150w/m² will provide a full heating solution.
With adequate insulation under tile heating cables and mats designed to 125w/m² will provide tile warming and secondary heating.

Tiled floor finish on to timber / plywood base. All timber floors whether floor boards, chipboard or plywood must be assessed to confirm structural integrity and suitability for tiling prior to installation of underfloor heating. Floor boards will always require provision of insulated tile backing boards or a ply-wood overlay prior to heating being installed.  Mats and cables can be fitted directly to ply-wood and moisture proof chipboard provided the floor is treated with a suitable priming solution. Design will vary from 100w/m² to 150w/m² dependant upon floor base specification. contact us to discuss.

As a general rule for both of the above scenarios under tile cables offer a far more flexible heating solution in terms of area coverage and designed watts per m². Under tile mats provide a quick solution for areas of regular shape.
All underfloor heating installations must be connected via an RCD (earth trip) protected circuit. All underfloor heating applications in bathrooms, wet rooms and shower rooms must use heating cables with an earth screen.
Cables / mats with twin conductors are considered easier to install than single wire alternatives.

In screed cables. In screed or sub-screed systems provide a highly efficient heating solution for new build or areas where a new floor is being fitted. Heating cables are installed directly above foil faced insulation below a 65mm screed. Design perameters require output of between 130w/m² and 200w/m² dependant upon room / construction type.

Laminate floor finish.Laminate and engineered wood floor can provide a highly effective heating medium with carbon heating films 12mm Depron® insulation beneath. The same insulation with heating films of varying outputs and sizes can be used to provide full or secondary heating for most areas of your house. Carbon film heating systems are not suitable for use in Bathrooms as they do not employ an earth screen.
